Guess this is where I should be posting this stuff.
Started stripping down my Flat Track donor at the weekend. Made a reasonable start getting rid of unwanted stuff - seat [ very heavy ], rear guard, rear lights,/indicators, mirrors, pannier frames and a few odds removed. Amazing the weight taken off [ not weighed yet].
Unbelievably the XR seat base fits straight on the the frame rails - just a couple of brackets needed.
Will drop the SE tank and Bates 4 1/2 " headlamp on next weekend just to get an idea of the look. Bars are not quite right - slightly higher and longer I think.
The other pic is of the bike as bought. MOT'd and taxed.

At least it's a start !

Thanx for that Warren
Always difficult to know if you're boring the ass off people or not!

I've just parted with my CB900 [ last summer stop gap ], and first indications are that the XS is almost as lively, certainly SOUNDS better, and the stock brakes are equally as good. And - certainly looks different to the usual herd of 4 bangers.

I'll be cutting off the unwanted lugs and brackets from my pal's F/T this week.

I'm toying with the idea of getting mine up and running as a F/T, but completely as is for the time being - ie no respray, powder coating and such. I'll fit the F/T bits of course, including the SE "Peanut" tank.

As ALL my projects have to be funded by the sale [ good ole e-bay ] of stuff that's in my garage [ ! ], it has to be a longer term project to refurbish completely.

I've temporarily given up hope of getting a wire spoked rear hub - so the Slippery Sam project is on the back burner for now.

Don't forget guys - I've got a shed load of unwanted parts now - reasonable prices, let me know what you want.

That guy sold his bikes last year, and never completed the project.
